Maye Delk: For those of you insistant on telling me that a 10 year old shouldn't have a phone, I agree in general, but her parents are divorcing and it allows every one involved to breathe a llittle easiler knowing she can be contacted by family at will.and Connor... you're an ***.Source: common knowledge....Show more
Paul Maymi: Hi, I have! the Samsung Strive, too. The pros and cons are...Pros: slides up, good messaging phone, doesn't lag or freeze, unbreakable...Cons: small keys, bulky..I haven't had a problem with it and i've had it for 6 months so far. It is a great phone and I highly recommend it. (You won't get caught if you text in class haha) Hope this helps! :-)
Chanda Wittwer: T-mobile is good for prepay. I got my first cell phone in 6th grade from T-mobile prepay, but I never really talked on it. I am going into 8th grade and I have verizon. (lg chocolate vx8500), and I mainly use the mp3 fuctions.
Sheldon Lally: Take a cup right. Then get 2 cups and connect them with string!!!! Teach your kid to use a pay phone, or dont let them go clubbing!
Nestor Klan: ok...ummm 10 year olds don't really need a cell phone...I got mine in like 7th grade and I still don't even frigging use it...I only use it to listen to music so everyone can rock out to AC/DC and sometimes call people...i hate t! alking on the phone...
Maye Delk: 3G is referring to the! speed of how fast your internet browser will be on your phone.
Jade Ohno: sidekick2
Stephnie Patout: cingular (and i'm sure other companies do too) has a phone called a 'firefly', It only holds 20 numbers. and it only has 5 buttons on it! it has buttons designated for mom and dad and then an emergency button. I think if you're going to give a child that age a phone, you should get this one. I dont think it is able to go online and all that extra stuff. i think the phone by itself without a plan is 100 bucks tho. If you sign a contract and all that, i'm sure the price goes down.
Lu Snide: a pay-as-you-go phone so that you can shut down or put up service as you wish. Then I guess a nokia style phone. One not so expensive.
Dedra Furguson: get a tracphone. they don't have any extras other than games and i'm pretty sure the only game it has is snake, lol. but you buy minutes for it as you go so if she runs out of minutes and she doesn't need her cell fo! r a while you don't have to get new minutes right away. i think that would be the best for a 10 year old. but i'm not entirely sure why a 10 year old would need a phone...?
Amina Motzer: 3G is, without getting too technical, basically a protocol that the network uses. AT&Ts 3G network is different from sprints and so on. 3G is the current 'fastest standard' in wireless data protocols (the difference from edge to 3g is kinda like the difference between having a "g" signal or an "n" signal on a home router)Hope that helps....Show more
Brittanie Zakutney: Not sure where you are from - can you get pre-paid packages? They usually include a basic phone, and pre-paid eliminates the chances of "accidental" bill run up once Miss Ten discovers text messaging :-)There are some phones available that can be programmed to only call certain numbers.Tic-Talk by Enfora is ideal - $99http://www.mytictalk.com/Leapfrog/I think they are a great child safety tool.See also Firefly! http://www.fireflymobile.com/...Show more
Tereasa Sorensen: speed!
Bennie Lantgen: They should only get a cell phone when they can pay for it themselves.
Rosalyn Olivera: OK, So my parents are finally getting me a phone. I ordered the Samsung Strive and I wanted a review on it because I've been reading some and it says it's not a very good phone. I want some Pros and Cons please. And please if you have one give me a description of the features good & bad. And is this a phone i could text with in class and not get caught? Or the keys super loud? Thanx :)10 points best answer!...Show more
Freddy Shutler: I used LetsTalk.com to purchase a couple BlackBerry Storms earlier this year when they first came out. Verizon wanted something like $300 per phone. LetsTalk.com was offering them for $99 each and after the mail-in-rebate they were FREE!I like purchasing online, but I opted to call them at 800-980-0936. The rep I spoke with was real knowledgeable and helpful... They didn't try to sell me a bunch of stuff I don't need! ! It took me two-days to get the phone and everything was already setup... All I needed to do was start dialing.I'll never go back to one of the major carriers (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.) to purchase a phone/service plan again. You'd have to be just plain "stupid" to do so!...Show more
Justin Casten: LetsTalk web site is safe to buy from.I know some people that bought phones from there. Amazon is a very safe and legit web site too. I always buy stuff from amazon. I would recommend buying from amazon.
Dalila Yoon: Basically, I'm confused about if there's just one 3g network or many that service providers use that all provide about the same speed?
Fermin Tara: "3g" means 3rd generation . If you have an at&t phone your 3g speed is 3.67mbps
Jestine Osumi: For those of you insistant on telling me that a 10 year old shouldn't have a phone, I agree in general, but her parents are divorcing and it allows every one involved to breathe a llittle easiler k! nowing she can be contacted by family at will.and Connor... you're an @! ss.Source: common knowledge....Show more
Clemente Schoeck: A 3G network is just a high speed mobile broadband network for smartphones, cell phones and mobile broadband air cards for notebooks. The 3G network is for mobile web browsing and it's used to increase your connection speed. In other words, it's faster so your web pages and downloads load up faster than the normal digital 1X service, which is still available for calls and text messaging. Each service provider has their own 3G network and some are much faster than others....Show more
Cornelius Thornborrow: Disney Mobile would probably be on the "too much for your kid" scale in terms of cell phones. It's just like a cell phone you or I would carry but, obviously, geared towards kids. It'll have some games and text messaging capabilities but nothing that would be too complex for a child to learn. If you want something just for calling. There is this;http://www.fireflymobile.com/ You can program who it calls ! out to and who it can receive calls from. All it does it call and receive. It will only call like two or three people but if it's just for keeping in touch then there's no worries....Show more
Tricia Dossous: verizon or disney plz answer my questions
Lynn Melbourne: speed
Helen Zafar: I am not sure of what the phone is called, but I know there is one out there that will not call out unless the phone has the number programed into it. I also think the cricket is made for kids of that age.
