Azalee Ahrendes: The unemployment rate for teachers in Canada is 24%. In Ontario 67% of education graduates were unable to find any work in their professions upon graduating. The under employment rate is 43% (i.e. those only able to obtain part-time or substitute teacher work when they want full-time employment). Since most teaching jobs are unionized... jobs are given out based on seniority if multiple people apply.Most provinces have moved to hard caps on the number of education students they allow in each year and all universities now warn students about the terrible prospects....Show more
